Meet Your Teachers

Lee Felton

Teacher

Lee began studying tai chi in 1979 with the New York School of Tai Chi Chuan and has been teaching with the Tai Chi Foundation since 1982.  In 1993, he moved to Charlottesville, VA and co-founded Blue Ridge Tai Chi, which currently offers classes in multiple locations each week.   After a career across several business sectors, his focus in teaching tai chi is increasingly oriented towards facilitating healthy aging and developing tai chi programs for health care practitioners.  He also had a private massage therapy practice from 1993-2003, and has been active as a guitarist, songwriter, and performer for many years.

Susan Dunlap

Teacher

Susan started studying with Blue Ridge Tai Chi in 1995 and began her teaching apprenticeship by 1998.  She co-teaches Beginning and Fundamentals level classes.

Susan retired from Rebecca’s Natural Food store when it closed in 2023, after 34 years of service as a Nutrition Information Specialist.  In addition she became a certified Health Coach/Counselor in 2010 for private consultations.

Susan is happy to be cooking organic food , especially when it comes from her own garden.  She also enjoys yoga, walks in nature, and listening to her husband’s rock band performances!

She and her husband share their home with two sibling cats, Joey and Chloe who like to be under foot when they practice Tai Chi.

Charlotte Zinsser Booth

Teacher

Charlotte began her tai chi practice in 2013 with Blue Ridge Tai Chi. She became an apprentice in 2018, and a year later retired from 50 years of working with children, their families, and their teachers. She continues to spend a month a year working at North Branch School in Afton, Virginia, which she founded in 1983, and has come to love teaching adults with Blue Ridge Tai Chi as much as she still loves working with children. Whether taking or teaching classes, or spending time with her grandchildren, Charlotte continues to be fascinated by how differently different people learn. She also serves on the Tai Chi Foundation Board and loves to garden.
